Metal Gates

Metal gates are usually integrated with metal fences but they can also be integrated with other types of fences. Metal gates are typically manufactured from metal bars and plates. The metal bars and plates are welded together to form various designs. Steel, wrought iron and aluminium alloys are commonly used in manufacturing or assembling metal gates. Many metal gates can be purchased as prefabricated products but they are also sometimes constructed onsite.

The simplest design of metal gates is the vertical bar design, which is basically an assembly of vertical, parallel metal bars that are held together by at least two horizontal bars. The bars are usually welded or riveted. Other designs of metal gates are more ornate, which include vine-like and flower-like patterns. Some also incorporate metal sculptures and have gilded plating. This type of metal gate design requires more refined artistic skills.

Regardless of the ornamental designs, metal gates can be classified based on the way they are structurally supported to the fence. Metal gates can be either supported by hinges or they can be supported by guide rail tracks. Hinged metal gates are also known as swinging gates while metal gates with guide tracks are called sliding gates. Both categories have their own advantages and disadvantages.

Metal gates can be built from scratch and be designed based on the specifications of the client. On the other hand, there are also metal gates that are factory-made.

Simply browse HomeBuilders.com.au to find the right contractor and supplier for the metal gates that you need. Here, you can find comprehensive directory listings of specialists in metal gates.
