WHETHER you are building a dream home, renovating or simply refurbishing, the Housing Industry Authority's Home Ideas Centre in the Steel River Estate at Mayfield is packed with inspiration. The centre's first expo for 2011 will be held on Saturday, April 2.There will be free seminars ranging from advice on installing flooring, to using cladding on a new or existing home and the use of energy-efficient lighting.Numerous opportunities will be available to learn about design principles to ensure that your next building project is comfortable and sustainable.Experts will also be on hand to help plan your next project.Tony Harrison from Nor'East Restaurant will be providing a cooking demonstration at the MyStyle Kitchens live display. He will be guiding his audience through a menu consisting of a delicious sweetcorn soup with a hint of chilli, king prawn dumplings and an Asian mushroom saute with black bean butter and shallots. If that gets the appetite started, the Lions Club of Elermore Vale will be manning a sausage sizzle, with proceeds to be donated to the Leukaemia Foundation. There will be a free jumping castle and face painting to keep the kids entertained. The centre is the largest of its kind in the region, providing information and advice on the latest in kitchens, bathrooms, green design and many other aspects of building and renovation through more than 50 displays showcasing the latest trends. The centre also offers seminar and function facilities, serviced offices and off-street parking. It operates seven days a week as a prestigious one-stop permanent exhibition centre for new home buyers and renovators as well as enabling builders and contractors to see the latest products and materials being used in the industry. And it's free.
